Team Coaching: Empowering Teams for Success
Team coaching is more important than ever in today’s work environment due to several key factors:
- Remote and Hybrid Work means effective communication and collaboration can be challenging. Team coaching helps bridge gaps, ensuring teams stay connected and aligned despite physical distance.
- Increased Complexity requires teams to work innovatively and efficiently. Coaching fosters adaptability, enabling teams to tackle evolving demands.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Team coaching helps leverage different perspectives, promoting inclusivity and encouraging better decision-making through shared understanding.
- Rapid Change can be due to technological advances, market shifts, and global disruptions. Team coaching helps teams stay agile and resilient, navigating transitions and uncertainties effectively.
- Mental Health and Well-being: In high-pressure work environments, team coaching supports the well-being of team members by creating a supportive culture, fostering trust, and reducing burnout.
- Accountability and Performance: With increasing expectations for team performance, coaching ensures that team members take responsibility, collaborate effectively, and stay focused on shared goals.
What to Expect in Team Coaching
Team coaching is a structured process where a facilitator uses various tools and techniques to help teams achieve their goals. By guiding teams through a series of steps, the coach helps them identify what they want to improve, change, or accomplish. This process supports the team in reaching a shared objective while fostering a sustainable environment that encourages engagement, well-being, and success.
Through team coaching, teams align around a common purpose, develop a compelling vision, build strong relationships, hold themselves accountable for both behaviors and outcomes, and make decisions that align with their goals and the organization’s objectives.
A typical team coaching journey often begins with an initial half-day session, followed by two follow-up sessions spaced about a month apart. However, each coaching program is customized to fit the specific needs and goals of the team—there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
The process begins with a meeting between the stakeholders and team leader to clarify the goals for the coaching. Based on this discussion, a tailored proposal is created to meet the team’s unique needs.

I was first introduced to Dr Jane when I was looking for a clinical supervisor for the senior counsellors. Through the interaction with her, I have learned that she does coaching for individuals as well as for groups.
The team coaching with Dr Jane has been empowering and enriching. The opportunity and platform in which Dr Jane has created for the team has been awesome, for us to feel safe to share, find clarity and be on a common group on the directions to go forwards as a team.
Feedback from the team has been positive and they have learned so much about each other and how they can contribute and support each other as an individual, as a team and together as an agency
