I imagine like the majority of helping professionals, the answer to most of these questions is yes. They were certainly all true for me when I was starting my clinical psychology training in 2001. It was very anxiety provoking. I wondered if I would be good enough – maybe people would find out I was a fraud and shouldn’t really be on the course. I was worried I would accidentally do something wrong that would harm my clients. Thankfully my first supervisor was very supportive, meeting me where I was and gradually helped me to increase my skills and confidence. I remember thinking at the time ‘I want to be like her when I grow up’ and she inspired my passion to support others on the same journey. I trained to become a supervisor in 2006 and since then have offered over 3500 hours of supervision to over 100 healthcare, social service and coaching professionals.

When I later trained as a coach, supervision was vital in helping me understand the difference between coaching and therapy and how to practise competently and ethically in both spaces. Having had good supervision over the last 20 years myself, I can say truly what a difference it has made in both my professional and personal life and I love being able to pass it forwards to others.  As a coach or therapist, we are the tools with which we support our clients so it is important we look after ourselves so we can do our job well.

What is it like to work with me?

Clinical supervision singapore

My primary focus is to create a safe and trusting space where you can openly share both your successes and challenges. Learning thrives in an environment free from fear, so together, we’ll explore your unique needs, preferences, and the learning style that best supports your growth.

For experienced professionals, our sessions may involve open, reflective dialogue. For those less experienced, I incorporate more skills sharing and teaching to help bridge theory and practice.

My supervision philosophy is about leading from one step behind. Using a solution-focused approach, we’ll work towards the kind of therapist or coach you aspire to be, balancing immediate casework with long-term development. We’ll build on your existing strengths and resources, gradually enhancing your competence and confidence.

I primarily use a solution-focused approach, but you don’t need to be familiar with it. We can discuss the models and theories you draw on, and how we can best collaborate in supervision.

Testimonials

What I found helpful was that it was a structured process whereby Jane took the time to understand the needs of the group. She found out the individual’s best hopes for themselves and for the group as a whole and was adaptable along the way as the growth of the group happened during the process.

I also like the additional resources of books, readings, slides for the sessions which makes it rich and suitable for the different levels of practitioners in this group.  I am thankful for the time and efforts put in by Jane for me and my team.

Coach, Previously Head of REACH

Jane created a safe and contained space during the groups to allow all of us to participate. The sessions offered enough structure that we knew what to expect, yet flexible to allow for the sessions to flow naturally. Invaluable learning using the reflecting team format, where I was actively participating as well as listening to the reflections of other colleagues. The experience was truly enriching to broaden my own way of thinking and questioning for my own clients. Developing the confidence to present a case to the group, who was able to support me to think from different perspectives about the same issue that I have been struggling with alone. I walked away feeling lighter, unstuck and more possibilities to work with my clients.

Transitions Coach, Singapore

For me it has been an extremely rewarding experience, both as a professional and as an individual. What stands out for me most is Jane’s professionalism, she is a thorough professional and she offers supervision in a safe and non-judgmental space without overstepping her boundaries as a supervisor. Every session has ended with validation, learning and tools for reflection. She is meticulous, organized, always on time, and fully present in sessions. Jane is impressive with her vast experience and qualifications but manages to be understated and humble and has always treated me with respect. I appreciate Jane’s ability to get me to reflect on my own work with powerful questioning, while providing me with her input that enhances my learning.
